Integrated and collaborative research
Understanding learning processes in schools, civil society and business is a prerequisite to achieve sustainable development.
Deeply immersed in a rich ESD research environment at Uppsala University, SWEDESD strives to collaborate with researchers and practitioners from Sweden and internationally.
Our integrated research aims to engage different stakeholders as active partners. This means to conduct research together with, rather than for, stakeholders from civil society, policy, business, and formal and informal education.
We want to build on relevant and successful research from Swedish curriculum research. In addition, we see the need to establish integrated ESD research as;
- interdisciplinary – research across disciplinary boundaries
- transdisciplinary –research collaborations together with actors from sectors outside of academia
- truly global – research together with many social-geographic perspectives and approaches including knowledge traditions and epistemologies from different places and contexts
