Bridging the GAP 21-24 August 2016 in Visby

Bridging the GAP was a joint conference that brought together the 1st Swedish International Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD and the International Network of Teacher Education Institutions (INTEI) held on 21 – 24 August 2016 at Uppsala University- Campus Gotland, Sweden. The focus of the conference was on quality education and ESD, i.e. Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development goals (SDGs) and on how Goal 4 is linked to other SDGs. Conference participants shared successes and challenges in scaling quality education as part of the UNESCO Global Action Programme on ESD.

  • International Network of Teacher Education Institutions (INTEI)
  • GAP Priority Action Area 3 partners (from the UNESCO global and Swedish Networks) - ESD Educators and Trainers
  • Learning Teacher Network (LTN)

Representatives of Teachers and Teacher Educators from more than 70 countries participated, including members of Swedish GAP Action Area 3, faculty members of teacher education institutions, deans of faculties of education, principals of teacher education institutions or other upper administrators from faculties of education, representatives of national and state/provincial ministries of education and UNESCO staff from Headquarters and Field Offices.

The outcomes of the conference are summarized in the final report.
