SWEDESD participates in SANORD Conference 2017

SWEDESD will participate in a panel discussion on critical thinking and transformative learning and facilitate a workshop on a partnership with universities in Southern Africa at the upcoming SANORD Conference in Zimbabwe on 27 November to 1 December 2017.

The Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) is a partnership of higher education institutions from all the Nordic countries and southern Africa. Its primary aim is to promote multilateral research cooperation on matters of importance to the development of both regions. There are currently 42 members. The theme of his year’s conference is “The role of Universities in Research and Technology transfer to improve the livelihoods in Southern Africa”.

Shepherd Urenje, SWEDESD, is one of the conference participants from Uppsala University. He will be part of a panel discussion on how to integrate critical thinking and transformative learning in the teaching and learning process. This is part of the SANORD Teacher Education Partnership (STEP), a new network of university teacher educators who have come together to facilitate research collaboration between North-South scholars. STEP was formed at the last SANORD Conference at Uppsala University in September 2016.

SWEDESD will also facilitate a workshop on a current research partnership with universities in southern Africa aimed at transformative learning.
