Launch of roadmap for implementation of new global framework for Education for Sustainable Development

The ESD for 2030 framework is the global framework on ESD for the period of 2020-2030, as approved by the 40th UNESCO General Conference and acknowledged by the 74th UN General Assembly in its Resolution 74/233. UNESCO has developed a Roadmap which provides guidance for Member States and other stakeholders for the implementation of ESD for 2030.

- This regional online launch is an important occasion to invite countries and ESD stakeholders to reinforce ESD in preparation for the upcoming UNESCO World Conference on ESD 17-19 May 2021, which had been postponed from June 2020 due to the pandemic, says Alexander Leicht, UNESCO's Chief of Section of Education for Sustainable Development Divison for Peace and Sustainable Development Education Sector.

The new roadmap will be introduced, followed by a panel discussion on the regional implications and questions and answers with the audience.
